We can believe that the term door-to-door itself is fully explained. Door-to-door shipping in international transport

This makes the concept of door-to-door delivery especially important in international, air and sea transport. Not being clear about what service we have contracted can make us upset when we discover that we have not agreed on the delivery to the final recipient.
There are other cases in which we must keep in mind how we are going to proceed so that a door-to-door shipment takes place. Among the most common are those cases in which most of the transportation can be done with a larger vehicle than the vehicle needed for the final stretch.
For example, we have enough merchandise to hire a full trailer, but at the destination we have to deliver to places where a trailer cannot be used, either due to lack of unloading means, access or for some other reason. This leads us to have to ask the door-to-door transport service to also have other vehicles that are capable of carrying out the final delivery.
